Mayor of Pearland will present achievement award to 11 year old who helped raise funds for little boy with Leukemia.
Pearland, TX: 2/10/2017 – On Saturday, February 11, 2017 @8:30am, Mayor Tom Reid will present Emma Schall with an achievement award for raising $1,200 for Gavin’s Galaxy and Gavin Abdelmessih’s medical funds. Gavin’s Galaxy is an organization started by Gavin’s father and mother that advocates to lawmakers for pediatric cancer patients.
The presentation will be made at the Pearland Girls’ Softball (PGSA) Opening Day, which will be held at Centennial Park: 3219 McLean Rd, Pearland, TX 77584. Emma and her softball team are affiliated with PGSA.
Emma raised the money on her own by going door to door for over a month. Emma presented the money she raised to Gavin’s Galaxy president, Sam Abdelmessih, and vice president, Jacqueline Abdelmessih, at the annual Scare Away Cancer Softball Tournament, on October 29, 2016. The annual charity event is put on by PGSA and Gavin’s Galaxy to raise money for Gavin’s Galaxy and their mission.

Gavin Abdelmessih was diagnosed with Leukemia on July 31, 2015 at Texas Children’s Hospital in Houston, Texas.
Gavin’s Galaxy exists for the following reasons: Education & Awareness concerning pediatric cancer. Lobby policy makers and collaborate with other non-profits and local businesses to increase government and private funding for pediatric cancer research. Outreach and support to those children and their families that are going through cancer. Sibling outreach for the siblings of pediatric cancer patients.
PGSA was formed, and exists, for the sole purpose of promoting good fellowship. We achieve this by fostering team participation while developing our athletes to be good leaders, students, citizens and team players. This is instilled through positive reinforcement and self-esteem development. It is our intent to equip our athletes with a desire to achieve through perseverance and a positive team attitude while developing all participants in mind, body and spirit.
